Rebellion is the Enemy of God and the Destroyer of Souls

220px-Fist_pictureMen are always quarrelling with God because he will not submit his will to their dictation.

The great sin of man is his alienation from God. He hath said in his heart, “No God,” and in his life he laboureth to escape from the divine presence. The journey into the far country is not only made for the sake of riotous living, but that he may get away from the Father’s house.

Not Afraid To Stand Alone

unnamed (1)

“Let us learn the astonishing power and influence which one man possesses if he comes forward boldly for Christ, and has the courage of his opinions.  One Moses, one Elijah, one John the Baptist, one Paul at Corinth, one Savonarola at Florence, one Luther in Germany, one Zwingle, one Wesley, one Whitefield, one Romain in London set thousands thinking and shook a sleeping world.  …We want [need] more men who are not afraid to stand alone, as Wycliffe did.”  J.C. Ryle “Light From Old Times” p. 31

Fallen Man Why Must You Rebel?

If a spot could be found wherein there would be no God, what a fine building
speculation might be made there. Millions would emigrate to “No God’s land,” and
would feel at ease, as soon as they trod its Godless shores.

The atheist is, morally, as well as mentally, a fool, a fool in the heart as well as in the
head; a fool in morals as well as in philosophy. With the denial of God as a starting
point, we may well conclude that the fool’s progress is a rapid, riotous, raving,
ruinous one. He who begins at impiety is ready for anything. “No God,” being
interpreted, means no law, no order, no restraint to lust, no limit to passion.

There are no infidels anywhere but on earth: there are none in heaven, and there are
none in hell. Atheism is a strange thing. Even the devils never fell into that vice, for
“the devils believe and tremble.” And there are some of the devil’s children that have
gone beyond their father in sin, but how will it look when they are for ever lost?

Come to Christ, He is Mighty to Save

This woman made her living outside of Rio de Janeiro. She was very poor, dirt floor house and her greatest fear was that she had a beautiful beautiful daughter and she knew that one day her daughter would leave that house and go to Rio de Janeiro to try to make a better life and she knew what would happen to her daughter if she went there.

One day the woman came home and her daughter was gone. There was a note on the table that said “I’ve gone to Rio to find a life.” The mother knew what would happen. She took all the money that she had she bought a bus ticket to Rio de Janeiro and then she went into a little photo shop a photo booth and she spent a great deal of her money, the mother did just making pictures of herself and then the mother went to Rio de Janeiro and spent months there.

She looked in every hotel, every restaurant, every movie house, all the disco techs every where she looked and every where she went she left a picture of her face. Finally she ran out of money and she went home.

One night her daughter was coming down the stairs of a hotel and she was with a man. She had become a prostitute, she looked like she had aged 15 years and as shes coming down the stairs. She feels like shes going to die but she looks over in the mirror she sees how shes aged and something catches her eye. She sees a picture of her mother, she grabs it, she cant believe it and she turns it over and on the back she read this: I do not care what you have become and I do not care what you have done please come home.

I know all about the sovereignty of God, about the great confessions and I am embrace them all. I know about election and predestination and all those things I believe but at the same time when I look in the New Testament this is what I here God saying: I don’t care what you have become and I don’t care what you have done My Son has paid for it all on the cross now come home. Some of you young people out here are going to ruin your life. Some of you adults bear scars that will never be removed because of the sin in your life and some of you the only thing you’ve ever seen of Christianity is a dead religion but I serve a living God who has sent us a living Savior and He calls all men to turn from their sin and come back to Him and those who come to Him He will not cast out. Trust in Christ. He is such a Savior He’s mighty to save don’t let anything stand between you and coming to know Him. One of the saddest things I ever have to do Is preach, preach about the love of God It is so sad because no matter how hard you try to preach You cannot describe the love of God for sinful men. God is love and He has provided a Savior and if you don’t come to him the fault will be yours.

Revelation 22:17 come and let the one who hears say come and let the one who is thirsty come let the one who take the water of life without price.

Who is Jesus?

Yep…Jesus is Lord. He is sovereign. And He Must Be Worshiped as such.

Uncommon Faith

What it is about the name of Jesus that offends so many?

Just who is this Man?

He is the centerpiece of world history and His existence in history is believed by any one intellectually honest. Today I’d like to ask you the question, just as Jesus asked Peter, “but who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15) When we look at the Jesus that the Bible portrays we have a very different idea than generally floats around in the imaginations of men’s minds. In fact He is quite confrontational and not even close to what most believe. He forced people to make decisions about who He was. He saw into the hearts of people and challenged them and engaged them in their sin.

If we face the reality of what Jesus said we are forced to decide if He is the Lord. He makes it clear and He…

The Light From Old Times

A_la_oscuridad“The true Christian was intended by Christ to prove all things by the Word of God, all churches, all ministers, all teaching, all preaching, all doctrines, all sermons, all writings, all opinions, all practices.  These are his marching orders.  Prove all by the Word of God; measure all by the measure of the Bible; compare all with the standard of the Bible; weigh all in the balances of the Bible; examine all by the light of the Bible; test all in the crucible of the Bible.  That which can abide in the fire of the Bible, receive, hold, believe, and obey.  That which cannot abide the fire of the Bible, reject, refuse, repudiate, and cast away.  This is the standard which Wycliffe raised in England.  This is the flag which he nailed to the mast.  May it never be lowered!”  J.C. Ryle “Light From Old Times” p. 23

Why Do You Believe What You Believe

We believe in the Lordship and sovereignty of Jesus Christ for a reason.

This blog is here for a reason.

Christianity found on the pages of Scripture is rooted and grounded in fact. Not emotion. Not myths and legends. But facts. Those facts cannot be brushed aside. They must be either accepted or flat-out denied. It’s as simple as that.

The Trap of Sin

800px-Paiute_Deadfall_Trap“This is the fatal rock upon which millions of sinners have shipwrecked their souls, and lost eternal life and Christ together.  They are wedded to sin, and will live separated from Christ rather than be divorced from their lusts, for there is no enjoying of these together.  It is as possible to reconcile light and darkness, or join heaven and hell together, as to join sin and Christ together in one soul; the ways of sin, and the way to Chist, are as far distant as heaven and earth. You may as well expect to have your bodies both in heaven and earth at once, as to have your souls act sin and come to Christ together; no serving of these two masters.  Now because there is no coming to Christ without turning from sin, and most have no mind to part with sin, hence Christ has cause to complain of so many, ‘Ye will not come unto me.’ ”  –David Clarkson “Works of…” Vol. 1, p. 337-338

The Beauty of Salvation

The Lord can give repentance to the most unlikely, turning lions into lambs, and ravens into doves. Let us look to Him that this great change may be wrought in us. Assuredly the contemplation of the death of Christ is one of the surest and speediest methods of gaining repentance. Do not sit down and try to pump up repentance from the dry well of corrupt nature. It is contrary to the laws of mind to suppose that you can force your soul into that gracious state. Take your heart in prayer to Him who understands it, and say, “Lord, cleanse it. Lord, renew it. Lord, work repentance in it.” The more you try to produce penitent emotions in yourself, the more you will be disappointed; but if you believingly think of Jesus dying for you, repentance will burst forth. Meditate on the Lord’s shedding His heart’s blood out of love to you. Set before your mind’s eye the agony and bloody sweat, the cross and passion; and, as you do this, He who was the bearer of all this grief will look at you, and with that look He will do for you what He did for Peter, so that you also will go out and weep bitterly. He who died for you can, by His gracious Spirit, make you die to sin; and He who has gone into glory on your behalf can draw your soul after Him, away from evil, and toward holiness.
I shall be content if I leave this one thought with you; look not beneath the ice to find fire, neither hope in your own natural heart to find repentance. Look to the Living One for life. Look to Jesus for all you need between Hell Gate and Heaven Gate. Never seek elsewhere for any part of that which Jesus loves to bestow; but remember,
    Christ is all.
